CAP91 makes minority co-investments alongside control sponsors in buyout transactions and single-asset GP-led continuation vehicles.
Relationships built one company at a time.
Since 1991, partners of CAP91 have worked with middle-market owners, management teams and private equity firms as a thought partner — helping them think through how to grow, when to acquire, when to sell, and who to partner with. Many of those relationships are now more than three decades old.
That long history produces something that is difficult to acquire any other way: a real-life, experience-based view of which sponsors deliver, which management teams execute, and what a business is likely to be worth to whom.
CAP91 exists to invest behind that view.
We are an independent firm with our own capital, our own investment committee, and our own diligence standards.
Both draw on the same knowledge base and the same relationships.
We take non-control equity positions alongside control sponsors in middle-market buyouts when we believe the combination of sponsor, business, and value creation strategy is exciting.
We take lead and syndicate positions in GP-led secondary transactions where a sponsor wants to “double down” and continue owning a high-quality asset.
Capital is abundant. Good partners are scarce.
We invest our own capital alongside leading sponsors, typically in the same instrument and exposed to the same outcome.
We can provide a view on which sponsors and companies are active in a sector, valuation perspectives, M&A activity levels, and how a business is likely to be received when the time comes to sell.
We do not seek control when we invest. We are additive without being another thing to manage.
The framework behind every investment we underwrite.
CAP91 seeks to invest in the highest quality companies operating in industries supported by strong, long-term tailwinds, partnering with experienced sponsors with multiple clear and achievable value creation drivers.
